`Too many arguments to function hw_timer_t Programming

I am using ESP32 core 3.1.1think the problem is timerbegin() initializes the timer and starts itthe following timerstart() attempts to start the timer again and throws the exception If you are using the timer for only one purpose, as in your example, then you could instead have set the frequency of timer to 10Hz and set the alarm to trigger on every tick. An infinite loop() without an explicit yield(), delay() etc. 4rbet may cause a watch dog timer reset which could make troubleshooting more complex.

Seeing as this is the second person suggesting this, I came to realize I didn’t specify how I wanted to lay out the displays. I had seen someone on YouTube build his own seven segment display with the NeoPixel strips. I didn’t realize such big displays existed.

Imagine that you now set the shift register to sink current for the B and C segments. If you set the timer to count down from one month, then how many days should it take? The goal is to have 3 independent multiplexed pairs of two 7 segment displays seeing as this halves my current usage. This, however, was an issue for the multiplexed displays since the shift registers required both the ability to source and sink current. So even if every one of the 6 displays had it’s own shift register, the current drawn by the displays would be way past the max of the 35mA limit. Thanks to several real knowledgeable members I’m starting to understand the nuances of esp32 timers.
I also made sure that the pin for the button was defined. I checked to be sure everything was connected properly and the serial was set up correctly, but I didn’t see any data. Its a stop watch class that times in 1/10 second chunks.
The reason you won’t need pins for each display, is that the CD4511 has a “latch”. It is also very easy to use a MOSFET as a switch. The truth is that it is really very easy to use a BJT as a switch.

This would record times for the entire length time the sensor is blocked. As written, as long as the if() is true the statement block will be executed. If there isn’t a way to run this function on this great program, that’s totally fine. Is there any way I could run the function runTimer() I created for my program with this program?
