Tribute to My Mom

My Mom was the impetus behind our service category called "Computer Care." Here's my story.

Why Computer Care Was Created:

It was my mother, Weege (Marie) Harlow, who inspired the service we now call Computer Customer Care at Click IT.

Living in Connecticut while I resided in Ohio, my mother, like anyone else, encountered occasional computer issues. She trusted only me to resolve these. However, being 500 miles away posed a challenge. I recall the urgency I felt to return to Connecticut to address a problem she was having, often with her printer, as she grew older.

Before the advent of tools like Zoom or the sophisticated remote monitoring technologies we use today, I discovered a service, which was later renamed TeamViewer. This affordable solution allowed me to log into her computer and make repairs remotely while she watched her screen. (Incidentally, I have a fascinating anecdote about the founder of TeamViewer, whom I met in Monterey, California. He shared a pivotal moment involving Gary Kildall that indirectly led to IBM partnering with Bill Gates, but that's a story for another time.)

My mother passed away a few weeks ago at the age of 93.

Thanks to the technology I found and later incorporated into our Computer Care services, I could manage her computer issues from afar, strengthening our relationship in the process. After resolving her problems, she often exclaimed how fantastic and smart I was and express that she couldn't manage without my help. I deeply miss those moments of affection and praise from her.

She was the matriarch of our family, and we deeply miss her. However, I believe she would be proud to know that her influence led to a service that now helps thousands through Click IT’s technicians across all our store locations.

Thank you, Mom, for being the inspiration behind a service that has touched so many lives.
